COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Park City has opened its new 13,000 sqft senior center funded by a 1% sales tax approved in 2023, and it offers meals + exercise classes and arts and crafts for Sedgwick County residents 55 and older.  KWCH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FFA will host a program to introduce city students to modern farming practices at local schools. Officials say the event will offer hands-on learning opportunities soon (details pending).  KWCH
  • Wichita Southeast High School's FFA program offers students hands-on training in agriculture through trade certifications & leadership skills that help them avoid heavy college debt. The school is inviting donations on Give FFA Day today.  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers rejected the ROTOR Act that would have required aircraft to use ADS-B In tracking tech near airports after an American Eagle jet from Wichita collided with an Army helicopter over the Potomac River in 2025, killing 67. Families of the crash victims vow to keep pushing for safety measures.  FOX Kansas

HEALTH NEWS

  • State regulators warned today that IV hydration spas must use licensed professionals and follow strict medical protocols for IV treatments. Clinics in Wichita charging up to $300 for vitamin drips risk fines & license suspension if they do not meet proper oversight.  The Voice
  • A Wichita tattoo studio uses art as a tool to help clients heal emotional wounds by offering art therapy sessions. It launched the new program last week to boost creative healing and community wellness (a first for local studios).  KWCH
  • The University of Kansas offers free online therapy through its KU Positive Psychotherapy Clinic, now in its seventh year, with weekly telehealth sessions starting as early as March. The program serves about 250 clients per year and is run by master’s plus doctoral students.  KWCH

  • Maize South senior Tucker Lowe returned to the court in the final week of the regular season after recovering from an avulsion fracture that required surgery with anchors and a screw. His careful rehab and return earned him a nomination for the Jersey Mike’s Naismith High School Basketball Courage Award.  KWCH
  • Competitive eater Joey Chestnut will join a chili bun competition and meet fans at Equity Bank Park on Friday, April 17 as part of Chili Buns weekend by Dynamo Capital. A bean challenge will follow postgame on Saturday, April 18 with extra team promotions.  KWCH
