EDUCATION NEWS

  • The 2026 Black Educators Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Carl Brewer Center. The event will begin with a reception (4 p.m.) and a program (5 p.m.) as it honors eight educators during Black History Month.  The Voice
  • Senator Marshall visited STARBASE at McConnell Air Force Base on Friday+ the program teaches STEM skills to elementary students and aims to inspire future STEM careers.  KWCH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sedgwick County installed a memorial plaque in the courthouse lobby on Friday to honor fallen deputy Sidnee Carter, who was killed in the line of duty by an impaired driver in Oct. 2022 with deputies joining his father at the ceremony.  KWCH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Former Wichita radio DJ Greg (The Hitman) Williams died early Saturday after battling stage four cancer. He spent 25 years at Power 93.5 and KEYN, and his family is asking for donations to help with medical expenses.  KWCH

  • Special Olympics will host a regional tournament in Haysville as announced on Friday, Feb. 21 + the event will showcase athletic competitions and build community spirit.  KWCH
  • The Shockers won 69-57 over Temple on Mike Kennedy Night, keeping their winning streak alive in a competitive game.  KAKE
