  • Members of Wichita's Asian American community celebrated Tet at Kim Son Asian Food Market on Sunday with a lion dance + families gathered to honor tradition and build unity. The event showcased cultural pride and a deep sense of belonging.  KWCH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Student Government Association is considering a resolution for Wichita State to honor engineering students who pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam + Engineering Senator Abby Otten said the proposal, now with Academic Affairs Committee review, may boost student internship and application opportunities.  The Sunflower
  • International Senator AJ Haynes introduced a resolution on Feb. 11 asking WSU to recognize international holidays with attendance exemptions for students. The measure was referred to the Diversity, Empowerment and Inclusion Committee — student feedback is welcome at Wednesday forums in Rhatigan Student Center room 233.  The Sunflower

HEALTH NEWS

  • Flu cases are rising as two Kansas school districts canceled classes last week due to widespread illness (students and staff affected). Health experts say a new Influenza A mutation is spreading quickly, and Wichita Public Schools’ janitorial team is working hard to maintain clean facilities.  FOX Kansas

  • On Saturday night, Wichita State beat Tulsa 81-77 (Kenyon Giles scored 31 points) after locking a late defensive stand. The win moved the Shockers into a tie for fourth in the American Conference and left them one game behind second.  KWCH
