  • Local community members will host the Smash for a Cause fundraiser on Saturday, Mar. 7 in Wichita to help recovering addicts, with planned activities to support recovery efforts.  KWCH
  • The Wichita Boat, Fishing and Hunting Show at Century II runs until Sunday (doors open at 10 a.m. today and Sunday) and features boats, hunting gear, live stingray encounters, and a mechanical bull as locals gear up for warmer weather.  KWCH
  • Dillons delivered over 60,000 roses for its annual Heart2Heart campaign on Friday, Feb. 13, boosting local heart health awareness in Wichita + supporting community unity.  KWCH
  • The DUI Victims Center of Kansas is hosting its first fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 21 when teams will play pickleball to raise funds for victims and families affected by drunk drivers — organizers hope to raise around $2,500 with 25 teams donating $100 each.  KWCH

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ross Gay's book 'Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude' has been chosen by the Wichita Public Library as its 2026 Big Read — the kickoff event on March 29 at the Maya Angelou branch in northeast Wichita features local poets and a panel discussion since Gay will participate remotely.  KMUW
  • Wichita Riverfest announced its 53rd annual concert lineup, featuring national acts including The Jacksons, Gym Class Heroes, Jake Owen, and Hank Azaria. The festival will take place from May 29 to June 6 at Kennedy Plaza Stage — early-bird buttons cost $15 until April 24.  Wichita By E.B.
  • The Riverfest festival announced its 2026 concert lineup on Friday, Feb. 13 + local and national acts will perform at the downtown riverfront.  KWCH
  • The Band Perry released their new song 'Psycho Rodeo' on Friday and began a 19-date tour in Pueblo, Colo. The band returns nearly 13 years after their last album now featuring Kimberly Perry and her husband Johnny Castello.  KWCH
  • Wichita residents can celebrate Black History Month with events including a talk on segregated cemeteries at the Kansas African American Museum on Saturday, Feb. 21 and a guided Black Business Tour at Cargill Protein Headquarters on Saturday, Feb. 28.   • Kansas lawmakers are considering Senate Bill 381 which would require students to pass an American civics test and learn about communist and socialist regimes to graduate—supporters say it promotes accountability while opponents stress local control.
