- ➤ With bitter cold approaching, Second Light Shelter is preparing its winter emergency facility to offer refuge for up to 390 guests and expects between 130 and 140 people on colder nights. The shelter is coordinating with Wichita Fire Department to assist those in need. KWCH
- ➤ Officials at the Second Light shelter are preparing for bitter cold weather by stocking up on warm supplies+blankets and heaters to protect residents. They plan extra warming stations later this week as temperatures drop further. KWCH
- ➤ Following a one-year break, Habitat for Humanity hosted MLK Day of Service where over 100 volunteers framed the walls—at Century II—to build two homes that honor Dr. King’s vision for community service. FOX Kansas
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A chimpanzee at the Sedgwick Co. Zoo was injured during an altercation with another chimp near the primate exhibit on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Zoo officials are reviewing safety protocols & monitoring the animal’s condition. KWCH

- ➤ Former WWE superstar Al Snow and local actor Caleb Milby, who attended Rose Hill Schools, star in the new film Learning You—about an autistic child’s Christmas road trip with his father. The movie opened in theaters Jan. 16. KWCH
